The history of Acura is relatively short. Parent company Honda introduced the Acura brand to the U.S. market in 1986 in an effort to create a separate luxury division for its products. At first, it was just a two-car show: the Legend sedan, which was the first true Japanese luxury car sold in America, and the Integra sport coupe and sedan.
The Acura brand was immediately successful. Consumers liked the features, performance and upscale image of Acura cars, along with the fact that Acuras were backed by Honda's reputation for reliability and low ownership costs. In 1991, Acura introduced its crown jewel: the NSX sports car. The all-aluminum NSX was a true rival to the era's top performers and, in typical Acura fashion, undercut them in terms of price.

Prior to making a deal on a new car, ask yourself how much you are willing to spend for that car before visiting a dealership. Consult first with your credit union personnel or personal banker before visiting the dealership. If you know you have the money arranged ahead and what your upper limit is, it helps greatly in your
confidence. The tendency is that the dealership might convince you buy a more expensive car because generally you get what you pay for. To get all the bells and whistles you might want in a car, remember it will cost you. If you can
afford it, go with the better quality when buying a vehicle.
