In 1914 the Dodge Brothers started their own auto company, which they named the Dodge Brothers Motor Vehicle Company. Early Dodge models had some similarities to the Ford Model T, but with such refinements as electric rather than crank start,
as were becoming popular with the middle class. The new Dodge cars were a commercial success. Dodge Brothers did not immediately offer a truck line, and when it did, only a single model was offered. Even that started out life as a purpose-built ambulance for
US forces in World War I before morphing into an actual factory-built pickup in 1918.

Your car paint must be cleaned occasionally, usually two or three times a year, to get rid of sticky residue. The most common types of bonded surface contaminants are tar spots and baked on bug remains. However, brake dust and industrial fallout can also become bonded to exterior surfaces over time. It is important to remove such contaminants periodically, because if they are allowed to remain in place for a long period of time they can etch and discolour underlying surfaces.
To determine whether your paint has firmly bonded surface contaminants, you should wash and dry your car thoroughly, and then run your fingertips over the major panels. Clean paint should feel as smooth as glass.
