One of the innovative branding strategies for the Volvo trademark is the Volvo for life Awards, a grassroots program that honors ordinary people who do extraordinary things to improve their communities. The awards are given in three categories - Safety, Quality of life, and Environment - all of which speak to and constitute Volvo's core values. The public can nominate individuals making valuable contributions to society. Additionally, the public can also make nominations for the Butterfly Award, which recognizes child heroes whose actions help to make the world a better place.

Often people like to stretch out the time between oil changes. This is not considered a good practise even when the oil seems to be ok. Change the oil and oil filter as specified in your owner's manual. Often the most neglected service, regularly changing your oil can improve the life of your vehicle and is especially important during the summer months as hot weather requires extra lubrication for your engine. Also give some consideration to changing over to synthetic oil. Check out the advantages of synthetic oil but remember it does cost more and the quality of regular oil has improved considerably over past years. In particular cold climates, synthetic oil does make for easier engine starts and might cut down some wear-and-tear on the engine.
